Bucket ‘n Spade Beach Day: with the sandy Bundoran beach facing Donegal Bay and the Atlantic across the road from the Hoyrood Hotel, keep it simple with a family day building sand castles and swimming in the waves. With Bundoran’s main street only 250 metres away pop for an ice cream or a salt & vinegar covered bag of delicious fresh chips. Simple pleasures creating perfect memories to treasure.

Bundoran Waterworld: Ireland’s award-winning indoor Aqua Adventure Playground is located on the sea front in Bundoran Co. Donegal, just a short walk from the Hoylrood Hotel. Waterworld provides hours of fun for the all the family with its 5 pattern Wave Machine, 2 speed Rapids and children’s water features, Slide Pool with Tornado Flume, Twister Flume and Snake shower spray. For the adventurous try the Whizzer Slide - the fastest water slide in Ireland or the Gravity Speed Slide. There is also a 3 lane multi slide, pirate galleon ship and toddlers pool. Fairy Bridges and the wonderful Wishing Chair: the Roguey Walk Experience offers delights for all the family. With spectacular scenery and nooks and crannies to explore, legend has it that the sea stacks dating from the 1800s are haunted by magical fairies. Close your eyes and wish in Bundoran’s famous Wishing Chair located at the Fairy Bridges at Tullan Strand. We hope your wish will be to come back next year!

Bundoran Adventure Park: is one of the Holyrood Hotel’s younger guests firm favourites for an afternoon of laughter and excitement. There is a great selection of rides for both the thrill seeking and little ones alike, adventure golf, bumper cars, go karts and an amusement arcade.

Bowling or Dizzy’s Den: try your hand at ten pin bowling, a great way of getting family members of all aged involved. Or relax whilst the children burn off all their incredible energy in Dizzy’s Den, an under 12s paradise with the toddler play frame, a 3 lane astro slide, rope bridges, basketball play area, football play area and soft play area for under 4′s. Little ones will enjoy every moment.

Movie Magic: hectic lifestyles can often mean a trip to the cinema is a rare treat. The Eclipse Cinema is perfect to relax, unwind and enjoy a movie. Don’t forget the popcorn!

Boating fun: The Donegal Bay Waterbus departs from the pier at Donegal and is a wonderful trip that lasts for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is the perfect way to enjoy the spectacular Donegal scenery, view the seal colony on Seal Island, The Bluestack Mountains and Donegal Bays many islands. There is a full commentary and great facilities on board. Children will love looking out spotting the seals and other wildlife.

Teenager challenges: At the Holyrood Hotel we know that one of the most important – or perhaps essential – requirements for teenagers is wifi – so we have that covered! But we also have lots of ideas and can help you plan wonderful day trips, sports and adventure activities to distract teenagers from i-phones or Facebook and get the adrenaline flowing. The Donegal Adventure Centre provides Surf lessons, Kayak lessons, Climbing, Abseiling, Orienteering, Hillwalking, Archery, High Ropes course, Cliff Jumping, and Canoeing. There is an activity or challenge to suit all teenagers.

Bowling: This a great way to keep the kids entertained while on holidays. Bundoran Glow Bowl and Macks Amusements is located just across the road from the Hotel. It has 10 pin bowling and a fun amusement arcase.
